DeBoer on UW Football: “This is a championship-caliber program”

Ahead of the season opener against Kent State, Kalen DeBoer was asked what the reasonable expectations should be for fans of a University of Washington football team coming through a coaching change and a 4-8 season.

The reporter’s question was presented to the new head coach in a way that seemed to indicate the Huskies were headed for some sort of rebuilding campaign, which was fair enough. That’s usually the case everywhere when there’s a change of manager.

At the same time, many more people on the UW fan sites were posting their predictions for a 6 or 7 win season for DeBoer’s Montlake first team.
