Ghanaian-owned continental technology company KNET Ghana Limited has announced the launch of its new IoT service called “IoT Anywhere”.

This is an exciting solution to be delivered in collaboration with Israel-based company AYECKA, which will provide the underlying technology.

KNET’s new branded service, “IoT Anywhere”, offers customers the opportunity to automate processes, reduce operating costs and receive up-to-date information about their systems

The service is provided in various sectors – including manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, waste and energy management.

AYECKA will provide KNET with the HUB technology and the new AR1100 user terminal. The unique technology enables high performance and very efficient use of bandwidth, all in low-cost user terminals.

AYECKA will also deliver the complete technology solution that will enable KNET to offer an unprecedented IoT service in Africa.

KNET will offer its “IoT Anywhere” service via AYECKA’s advanced VSAT IoT network, which can support 10,000 IoT terminals with a scalable HUB architecture.

The system is also designed to make the most efficient use of satellite resources and provide the best bit/MHz ratio in the industry.

A joint statement from KNET and AYECKA said: “All of this, coupled with the use of AYECKA’s all-outdoor VSAT AR1100, lowers the total cost of ownership for KNET and subsequently for its customers who only have one TVRO antenna (90CM Receive single court) to use this service.”

Dedicated VPN networks can be built into the product, enabling secure and encrypted data transmission through a private “tunnel”, adding that the product also offers customers instant national network access that is independent of GSM availability.

“The range of services of our IoT platform includes, among other things, M2M communication, mobile money connectivity, supports fuel level monitoring at gas stations and supports dedicated payment platforms for e-commerce. This will also bring more inclusion to Ghana’s rural areas,” the statement said.

Avi Barda, President of AYECKA, stated: “I am honored to work with KNET. AYECKA technology will enable KNET’s service to offer its customers in Africa the ability to deploy IoT networks for multiple applications, all at an affordable hardware and service price”.

Richard Hlomador, Chairman and CEO of KNET also said, “We are pleased to continue our commitment to ensure our customers in the world’s fastest growing economies have access to global standards of value-added services.”

He added that “IoT Anywhere” is the latest in our diverse product portfolio. KNET has been providing satellite services for 22 years using the SES satellite fleet from our teleport and network operations center in McCarthy Hills.

“This means that this service will be available to 22 West African countries. The cost of ownership of this product is similar to the TVRO dish (90 cm dish for receiving only).

“We are very excited to continue pursuing our vision of providing best-in-class technology solutions to a variety of customers across Africa.”
