Detroit Pistons vs. Utah Jazz

9:00 a.m. EDT notice

Line: Jazz -11.5 Total: 229 points

I bet the Utah Jazz minus 11.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook and is a valid bet up to and including -12.5 points tonight

Betting on the Jazz demerits is the preferred best opportunity for this matchup

The Utah Jazz front office traded All-Stars and Defensive Player of the Year award winner Rudy Gobert and leading scorer Donovan Mitchell for a boatload of valuable draft picks that nearly destroyed the franchise’s face last season. Few jazz fans in Beehive State were happy with the news or the results. Then the front office went even further and traded fan favorite Bojan Bogdanovic to the Detroit Pistons.

The good news is that despite tearing down the Jazz rebuilding team, they have a solid 12-7 SU and against the straddled start to the season and sit with the second-best record in the Western Conference. Jazz fans can also give Bogdanovic a warm welcome on his first return to the Vivent Arena.

The Pistons are playing their fifth game of a five-game road trip and playing that game on back-to-back nights. So I expect road travel will be an issue they just can’t get over against a solid NBA team like the Jazz. The following situational trends and angles from my prediction model support a best bet on the Jazz minus the points

  • The Jazz are 97-10 SU (91%), 86-20-1 ATS (81%) when shooting 48% or more from the field and scoring 115 or more points in games played in the past five seasons.
  • The Pistons are 10-84 SU (11%), 26-65-3 ATS (29%) when allowing 115 or more points and 48% allowing shooting from the field in games played in the past five seasons.

Other games on my radar

Philadelphia +4 vs. Charlotte

  • 76ers head coach Doc Rivers is 28-12-1 ATS as his team plays its fourth game in the last 10 days.

Dallas +7 vs. Boston

  • The Celtics have 3-16 ATS (16%) when they face teams that are being overtaken by three or more rebounds per game
