Tim Burton’s Netflix Original on the Addams Family has arrived and is being binge-watched by Jenna Ortega fans Wednesday within a few days. The first series follows the “smart, sarcastic and a little dead at heart” Wednesday Addams, who investigates a mysterious assassination attempt that swept through her parents 25 years ago when she was starting at new school Nevermore Academy.
The highly-anticipated drama has only recently been shelved, but fans are already looking forward to more episodes. Here’s everything we know Wednesday Season 2, from the expected release date to the main cast.
Has Wednesday Season 2 confirmed?
Currently, there’s no word from the streaming service on whether we’ll be getting a second season. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen — the first season has only just been canceled, and the team behind the show are keen for more.
As co-creator Alfred Gough said of Empire: “[Screenwriter] miles [Millar] and i talk to each other about it. There is definitely more to discover in the world of Addams.”
Jenna Ortega, meanwhile, added that she also has “no idea” about future episodes while speaking to NME.
Who was cast in season 2 on Wednesday?
Nobody at the moment because there is no guarantee that it will definitely happen. But if it were to continue, fans can assume that much of the season one cast would be back:
- Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams
- Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia
- Luis Guzman as Gomez
- Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley
- Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
- Gwendoline Christie as Headmistress Larissa Weems
- Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin
- Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe
- Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin
- Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair
- Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay
What is the estimated Wednesday season 2 release date?
It’s hard to say because it hasn’t been confirmed yet, which also means production hasn’t started and filming hasn’t been done yet. If we look at the timeline of the first season, which began filming in September 2021 and wrapped production in March 2022, it took the show eight months to land on Netflix.
Following this pattern when season two of Wednesday If confirmed before Christmas, it would take them six months to film and eight months for post-production and editing – which makes early 2024 likely. Fingers crossed!
Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix.
